UG Direct Admissions for Students of Abroad (DASA 2015)

The 4th and last round of admissions to the remaining DASA seats will be announced on July 8th. Those offered seas will have to accept the allotted seats and pay the fees on or before July 11th.

 

Direct Admission to Students from Abroad is available for applicants who have studied their 11th and 12th outside India or hold a foreign passport.

 

Eligibility:

    • Applicants should have completed 12th class or equivalent by May 2015 or earlier.
    • Applicants should satisfy one of the following conditions
      • Studied 11th and 12th or equivalent outside India
      • Hold a foreign passport
    • Applicants must have a score of 2000 or more in SAT (Physics+Chemistry+Mathematics II) [earlier known as SAT-II]. Scores from June 2013 onwards will be considered valid.
    • Desirable: It is desirable that they have taken AP Calculus, AP Physics or AP Chemistry courses.

Selection Criteria:

The candidates will be selected based on SAT total scores. In case of two applicants with the same total score, the following tiebreaking criteria will be applied.
 
First tiebreaker: SAT Mathematics II marks
Second tiebreaker: SAT Physics marks
Third tiebreaker: SAT Chemistry marks
Final tiebreaker: Date of Birth (older candidates preferred)
 
The Institute code is 6997 for directly sending your SAT scorecards to the Institute.

  • [ECD] B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Master of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering by Research
  • [CLD] B.Tech in Computer Science and Master of Science in Computational Linguistics by Research
  • [CHD] B.Tech in Computer Science and Master of Science in Exact Humanities by Research
  • [CND] B.Tech in Computer Science and Master of Science in Computational Natural Sciences by Research
  • [BSD] B.Tech in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Building Sciences and Engineering by Research
 

Sanctioned Number of Seats:

  • Computer Science Programs (CSE and CSD): 20
  • Electronics & Communications Programs (ECE and ECD): 10
  • Other Programs (CND/CLD/CHD/BSD): 5
Applicants have to indicate their preferences for the above programmes on the application portal. Preferences that are available after May 31st will be used for allocating the seats. No change of preferences will be allowed after May 31st 2015.
 
While applying, include only the programmes you are really ready to join, if allotted, in the branch preference list. The institute expects you to join a programme if it is allotted to you. If you do not take up an allotted seat, another student could have joined in your place. Do not list a programme in your preference list only as a placeholder for another one.
 
For example, if you are interested in the ECE (B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering) programme and no other programme of the institute, just give ECE as the first and only preference on the application portal. If you are keen only on a few programmes of the institute, give preference order only among those. If none of your preferences is allotted during a particular round, you will have the option of continuing into further rounds.
 
Note: The institute will not have sliding after the last round of announcements.

Online applications can be filled by the candidates at http://web2py.iiit.ac.in/dasa from April 15, 2015 to May 31, 2015.

Application Fee:

INR 6000 to be paid online, while submitting the online application (Application fee is non-refundable) .

Fees:

  • Tuition fee: US $12,000 per annum for the academic year 2015-16.
  • Hostel and Mess fees are extra, charges on par with all students at the institute.
 
 

Payment of initial Fee:

  • Candidate who have been allotted a seat should confirm the acceptance of seat allotment by paying the tuition fee for one semester on or before the acceptance dates (Please see the above for round wise acceptance dates.
  • First semester tuition fee payment of USD 6,000 or equivalent in Indian Rupees (rupee amount will be specified on institute websites later) should be paid online (details will be sent later) though the payment portal.
At the time of registration, candidates will need to pay caution deposit, hostel fees, mess deposit, etc., (about Rs 40,000). Details will be sent later.
 

Acceptance of Seat Allotment:

The candidates who have been selected for admission have to confirm their acceptance on the admission portal (http://web2py.iiit.ac.in/dasa) after making the tuition fee payment.
 
 
 Note:
    1. All payments which reach us by 5 PM IST on the deadline dates will only be considered.
    2. Based on the number of acceptances and remaining seats available, further rounds of seat allocation may be done.
