Policy

To maintain high level of academic standards and smooth running of the academic session, IIIT Hyderabad completes all admissions before the start of the academic session.

  • IIIT Hyderabad does NOT participate in allotment through JEE (Main) CSAB.
  • All admissions are through IIIT, Hyderabad portals, basing on Marks secured in JEE (Main) exam.
I. Programs offered
i). Undergraduate
[CSE] - B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
[ECE] - B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering(ECE)
 
ii). Dual Degree
[CSD] - B.Tech and MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering
[ECD] - B.Tech and MS by Research in Electronics and Communication Engineering
[BSD] - B.Tech in Civil Engineering and MS by Research in Building Science and Engineering.
 
iii). Trans-disciplinary Dual Degree
[CLD] - B.Tech in CS and MS by Research in Computational Linguistics
[CND] - B.Tech in CS and MS by Research in Computational Natural Sciences
[CHD] - B.Tech in CS and MS by Research in Exact Humanities
 
 
 
II. Modes of Admission
There are four modes of admission.
 
a). [JEE (Main)] - Students should take JEE (Main)-2015, and must separately apply for IIIT admission. The students will be admitted on the basis of the Marks in the JEE (Main) - 2015 examination.
Programs: CSE, ECE, CSD, ECD, BSD, CND
Eligibility: Students must take JEE (Main) - 2015 exam.

Application Fees: Rs. 1500.
Selection Process: Based on Marks in JEE (Main) - 2015.
 
 
 
b) [DASA] - For CSE and ECE programs, students who have foreign passports or have studies abroad are admitted based on their  SAT II scores.
Programs: CSE, ECE, CSD, ECD, BSD, CND
Eligibility: Applicants should have studied 11th and 12th or equivalent outside India, (or) Must be a foreign passport holder. Further, a minimum of 2000 SAT subject score (Physics+Chemistry+Mathematics II) [earlier known as SAT-II]
It is recommended that they take AP Calculus course, AP Physics or AP Chemistry course.

Application Fees: Rs. 6000 / USD 100.
Selection Process: Based on candidates academic record and SAT score.
 
 
 
c) [CLD - CHD] - For CLD and CHD trans disciplinary programs, Admission through written examination held on 19 April 2015 followed by interview. Result/Interview dates will be announced on website [date will be updated ASAP].
Programs: CLD, CHD
Eligibility for CLD/CHD:
Stream 1:Higher Secondary/class XII or equivalent in Science stream with Physics and Mathematics.
Stream 2: Higher Secondary/class XII or equivalent in Humanities, Arts and Social Science with Mathematics.
 
For CLD program, a keen intrest or work in languages and aptitude for logical analysis and Mathematics is essential.
 
For CHD program, a keen intrest or work in Arts, Humanities, Social Science and aptitude for logical analysis and Mathematics is essential.
Selection Process:  A shortlisted set of applicants in written examination will be called for interview based on their performance in written test.  The final selection is based on performance in the interview.
 
 
 

d) NTSE, KVPY [NK] - For CSD, ECD, CND, BSD, CLD and CHD, students who have qualified for (i)NTSE, (ii) KVPY. Admission through written examination held on 19th April 2015 followed by interview. Results/Interview date will be announced on website [date will be updated ASAP].
Programs: CSD, ECD, CND, BSD, CLD and CHD
Eligibility: Class 12th passed in 2015 and must have qualified for (i) NTSE, (or) (ii) KVPY, (or) (iii) are selected for training to represent India in international Olympiads.

Selection Process: A shortlisted set of applicants in written examination will be called for interview based on their performance in written test.  The final selection is based on performance in the interview.

 
 
e) Lateral Entry after second year of B.E./B.Tech. elsewhere.
Eligibility: Applicants who have successfully completed second year of B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science/IT or Electronics & Communications Engineering are eligible to join 4-year dual degree programme in B.Tech & MS by research in CSE or B.Tech & MS by research in ECE.
Selection Process: Based on candidates record and outcome of the entrance exam held on 19 April, 2015 and interview. Results/Interview date will be announced on website [date will be updated ASAP].
